How T’s Table Came About
Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by! It took me a while to figure out that I wanted to do blogging, and recipe development full time. So I thought I’d go a little more in depth about how Tamara’s Table came about.
I started this blog in January 2017 when I decided to make some changes in my life. You see, 10 years ago I left a great job in NYC to follow my dreams of working, traveling and living abroad with my talented husband. From London to Shanghai, we moved, and I chased job after job as we went, but we were never in a place long enough for me to build the successful career I was chasing.
We found out I was pregnant the day before we left Shanghai for Amsterdam. Not only that, but I was pregnant with twins!! Talk about shock of a lifetime! So being in a new city, I decided to focus on growing these little humans for a while and worry about the next job move after the twins arrived. I was naive about how difficult it would be to go back to work easily after they were born… And then it was 4 years later 🙂
Through being a stay at home mom, I started to really discover my own passion and talent for cooking. Working in the kitchen became a creative outlet for me and it brought me so much joy to learn and experiment everyday.
Even though I had the amazing opportunity to stay home with my kids, I was still missing being back in the work force . After 3.5 years, I wanted to get back to building my career – not that I had any clue what that was anymore. So I went back to work. I freelanced for 8 months and then realised that what I was chasing before kids wasn’t what I wanted anymore. Besides that, I missed having the time to think of new recipes. I missed the excitement that I had everyday in my kitchen. So I decided to give up searching for that illusive career and build one doing something I am passionate about.
I love coming up with new recipe ideas and have been creating my own recipes. For the past 2 years I have been photographing and cataloging my recipes. But I am still learning how to write recipes and blog posts, how to style my food and how to photograph it. It’s fun and challenging and daunting but overall its exciting. It’s a whole new creative endeavour outside of the kitchen and I love developing my own unique style.
So here has been a little about me and how Tamara’s Table came to be. I hope I can entice you to make some of my recipes and if you do, don’t forget to let me know what you think in the comments!
