Who doesn’t love guac and chips! I have never been a fan of the jarred salsa so once I started making my own, this recipe developed from there.
My love for Guacamole started later in life. Avocado didn’t feature prominently when I was growing up – mainly because I don’t think it was available in the grocery stores of Nova Scotia in the 80s and 90s. When I started dating Kris, his mom’s guac was always on the table when we came to visit. She always made hers with a dash of tequilla (thanks for the tip Carolyn!) and definitely inspired my version.
Please note that this recipe does have a small amount of alcohol – one tsp – which for me isn’t a problem to serve to my family. If you feel differently, you can omit this and add a dash of rice vinegar instead.
